Why a tank gets cleaned
Some tanks need contamination removing or their surfaces exposing for inspection. Others are being prepared for a product change or taken out of service.
Previous contents, residue and access
An oil storage tank, a water system and a chemical vessel each call for a different method. Before deciding how the deposits will come out, we look at what the tank held before, the residue in it now, what it is made of, its openings and its internal fittings.
We clean from outside the vessel wherever that is possible. When entry cannot be avoided, it depends on the appropriate confined-space assessment, controls, competence and emergency arrangements, and any hazardous connected equipment has to be suitably isolated first.
One result does not prove another
Bulk recovery, surface cleaning, fuel treatment and the disinfection of water systems are distinct pieces of work. One job can involve several, but the result of one does not establish the result of another. Cleaning may bring corrosion, coating damage or other visible defects to light. It is not a structural inspection, and it does not guarantee fuel or water quality.
