Tank Volume Calculator

Calculate tank volume and estimated contents, then discuss cleaning or emptying with us. We can inspect the tank and help establish any missing dimensions or condition details.

How can we help?

Complete the form and we will get back to you.

Full and part-filled tank volume

Choose the shape and use internal dimensions from drawings or safe records. Liquid depth is measured from the bottom in the same units. The calculation estimates geometric volume; it does not measure the contents of an irregular or obstructed tank.

Working capacity and tank records

Flat-ended cylinders and simple rectangular tanks are assumed. Dished ends, tank tilt, internals and retained solids affect the result. Calculated space above liquid is not a safe filling limit. Follow the manufacturer’s filling information.

Contents and residues

Previous contents help us plan cleaning and waste handling. Tell us what was stored, the approximate quantity and any known sludge or contamination. We can arrange inspection and any assessment needed when the contents or condition are uncertain.

Inspection and cleaning

We can discuss industrial storage tanks, process vessels and other tank cleaning work. You do not need complete measurements to contact us. Do not enter a tank to measure or inspect it; any unavoidable confined-space entry requires specialist assessment and safe arrangements.

Common questions

Can I contact you without completing the tool?

No tank dimensions or reliable contents figure? Contact us with what you know. We can assess the tank and plan the work. You can enquire directly; completing the tool is optional.

How accurate is a dip-to-volume result?

The geometry is exact for the stated ideal shape. Accuracy on a real tank depends on the internal dimensions, liquid-depth reading, tank position and any sludge or obstructions. Use the manufacturer’s calibration chart where one is available, especially for stock or delivery decisions.

Can I enter the dimensions of the bund?

No. A bund is secondary containment. Use the internal dimensions of the tank holding the liquid.

Does the calculator allow for dished ends?

No. The cylinder models assume flat ends. Use a manufacturer’s calibration chart or a calculation that includes the end shape.

Can the last contents tell me whether entry is safe?

No. Previous contents are only one part of the assessment. Atmosphere, contamination, connected equipment and the planned work must also be considered. A tank that held water can still present confined-space risks.

What happens to the removed residue?

The residue needs an accurate description and classification, and it must go to an authorised person or facility able to accept it. Complete the waste transfer or consignment documentation that applies to the load. The calculator does not approve a disposal route.

Sources and limits

The volume calculations use ideal internal shapes and flat-ended cylinders. Real tanks may differ. Results do not set safe fill limits, confirm confined-space safety or classify waste.
