Cone geometry and retained material
A conical bottom directs liquid towards a discharge point and is used for drainage and process duties. The installed outlet, internal features and the nature of the residue still determine whether material remains after normal emptying.
Free liquid, settled solids and adhered deposits behave differently on the cone surface and around the discharge. A vessel that drains effectively is not necessarily clean.
Bottom outlet and connected fittings
The cone, outlet valve and connected pipework form one lower tank arrangement. Residue in these areas may be a cleaning issue, while a blocked or damaged valve can indicate a separate equipment fault.
Cleaning and repair should remain distinct. Removing retained material does not confirm the condition or operation of the valve, fittings or connected process equipment.
Cleaning limits for conical tanks
Tank material, internal lining and previous contents determine compatibility with a proposed cleaning method. Polymer, coated and stainless-steel vessels can have different restrictions despite sharing the same conical base geometry.
The cone shape does not provide a universal safe pressure, chemical concentration or temperature. Limits have to come from the installed tank, its manufacturer information and the product history.
Condition after cleaning
Preparation for refill, product change, inspection and decommissioning can require different results. Residue checks or other acceptance evidence may therefore be separate from the physical cleaning activity.
Dimensions, cone and outlet arrangement, access and remaining contents set the technical scope. Non-entry methods should be considered where possible; any proposed entry requires a competent confined-space assessment.
